Cross Plains, Texas, population 926, about 1.2 sq miles, a handful of eateries, gas stations and a Dairy Queen. But, not sure if it’s their secret as you’ll find it right on Main St. but this little gem of a grill, Backwoods Texas Style Grill. Had stopped in early in the week. Great food, good service and easy wait. The deal is, I had to go back, another visit, was it a fluke or was it the real deal? Baby, it’s about as real as it gets. Okay, so it’s not fine dining, a high priced steakhouse, or a highway diner, it’s a bona fide Texas Grill! They know their stuff. Crispy, thick, homemade fries, not greasy or too salty. Perfectly fried chicken and, I don’t know if it was house made, a buffalo chicken sauce that will wake up those buds and make you sing, a decent house salad, the grilled ribeye you’d expect to get at the temperature you like, and a tea you can taste. Yes, a true Texas grill. Character all around with a great personality. Passing through, make this you stop before getting “there”. Hats off to this classic establishment straight out of the movies. There’s even a manner to tie down that horse should you ride up in one! Enjoy people! #somewheretexas #aboyslife #texasroads #texasgrills #travel @crossplainstx_chamber #fries #ribeye
